Cell Structures on Configuration Spaces of Euclidean Spaces

  • The one-point compactifications of ordered and unordered configuration spaces of R^d admit CW structures, and the reduced Z/2-homology of these one-point compactifications coincides with the Z/2-homology of the underlying configuration spaces, respectively. In this talk, we will introduce these CW structures and derive a combinatorial description of the respective cellular boundary maps. Via cellular homology, this will enable us to determine the Z/2-Betti numbers of ordered and unordered configuration spaces of R^d computationally.
